SAMSUNG S8000 Jet - Fast? You Bet It Is
Well it's called Jet and for a good reason. It's just been uploaded using Calibrator and has wiped the floor with everything else that's been uploaded in the last 3 years.
The CPU is an ARM9 that has hit 9024909 r/s with the closest competitor being another Samsung - the I780 scoring 5389322 r/s. The ARM9 is installed in quite a few other devices but none have come close to scoring as high as the S8000. It's got excellent Java support as well, including the latest sensors JSR 256. Check it out yourself here. Also have a look at GSMArena for their review (updated link).

Interesting Device
This device tested recently doesn't advertise it's device name through any of the numerous ways Calibrator tries to designate. It seems like a very new Nokia phone because of the Java libraries available and is a Symbian 9 phone but there's nothing else to find out what it is. Nokia almost always reveal the device name through System.getProperty("microedition.platform") but it looks like with this one it's been left out?

Fastest Mobile Networks in the World
The fastest networks that have been tested are now in the stats section. There's a number of factors that can affect transmission speed including how near you are to a mobile phone mast, how far you are from server location (UK), the hardware capabilities of the phone and traffic load on the server. Over time, we'll average the figures out though to give a better overall picture.
Having a look through some of the tests it's not much of a surprise that there's currently 2 UK networks at the top, as that's where the server is, but the current top result is a Sony Ericsson W200i. This phone is only supposed to be capable of 57.6 kbps (about 7KB/sec) with HSCSD support, yet it's been recorded at 80KB/sec!
